Bio:

Depeche Mode started making music back in 1980 in Basildon (Essex), at this time they were called "Composition of Sound". The band isn.t all like the one you hear about today: Guitarist/vocalist Andy Fletcher, Keyboardist Vince Clarke and Martin L. Gore. After a little while the band decided to recruit David Gahan, replace the guitars with synthesizers, and change the name of the groupe to: "Depeche Mode". Like: www.depeche.mode.com says: "became all-electronic". The 4 guys signed up with Mute record and released their first single "Dreaming of me". Dreamin of me was no near the same success as "Just can't get enough". Speak & Spell was released in 1981 and was their debut album (containing Dreaming of me, Just can't get enough, Shout, etc.). Signed to Sire record in the U.S., Depeche Mode started touring in England Europe. Vince Clarke decided to form the band Yazoo (hits like "Only You" & "Nobody´s Diary"), and later the band Erasure! Alan Wilder then joined Depeche Mode and the 4. single was out on the street: "The Meaning of Love". 1887 Depeche Mode got on their 101 tour (ofcause there had been a lot in the mean time). 101 was a great tour ending up (as number 101 of the concerts) in Pasadena Rose Bowl in front of 70.000 screaming fans. As the band says in the video "The hit singles 86 > 98", they were so nervous that they really didn't enjoyed it as much as they should. 1988 The video and double CD was released named 101. Depeche Mode got a gold single for one of the largest selling CD singles in the U.S. history. This hit single was followed by one of Depeche Mode's trademark songs " Enjoy the Silence". Now Depeche Mode was so huge that when they wanted to tour, well, the tickets were almost sold faster than the ticket offence was opened. In New York, Depeche Mode sold 40.000 tickets for Giants Stadium within 8 hours and 48.000 tickets to Dodger Stadium in L.A. within 1 hour!!!
