Rasputina

Bio:

ALTHOUGH THERE HAD NEVER been one before, it came to pass that A Ladies' Cello Society was formed in Brooklyn, U.S.A. The members were never late to meetings, so as a byproduct of this they made an LP entitled, "Thanks For the Ether," in 1896. Well received as it was, they traveled about endlessly, opening recitals for other musical variety shows, such as Bob Mould, Porno For Pyros and Marilyn Manson. They even appeared on the Television with such luminaries as Conan O'Brian and Regis and Kathie Lee! Used as they were to playing merely before an open hearth, they learned many things from the rough teenage audiences. They bowed harder, they played louder until even the soft became quieter. They had always loved their massive amp rigs and their colorful array of foot pedals, but these became integral, as if attached by muscular tissue. There has never been a better time for Neo-Chamber-Grünge. Oh, see Melora as she presses her face to the glass of the tour bus window -- dreamily scribbling, crying and giggling. Such jottings and antics became a new collection of songs. Songs more fictional in nature than the Rasputina songs of former times. Animal fables, tales of mechanical allegory and send-ups of antiquated medical practices among other things. The primitive movement impulse that Rock brings was what the girls of Rasputina wanted to capture this time around. The assembling of rhythmic patterns, almost barbaric in simplicity, was discovered to have this effect. Oh, how the girls beamed at each other upon discovery. Melora assembled some dope loops, relying upon The Andrew Sisters and Black Sabbath as bookends of inspiration. Producer Chris Vrenna, (formerly of Nine Inch Nails) polished these just a bit and added many more of his own subtle percussion collages. Julia and Agnieszka played as if there were no tomorrow when their hearts would break. So, that's how they made, "How We Quit the Forest." Regarding the meaning of the title, you, the listener, are asked to consider "Quitting" to be a state of mind; quitting a relationship, quitting smoking, quitting the dairy food group. Consider "the forest" as society, and the animals its citizens. The title tells of three birds who are trying to act cool with each other while dealing with the pressures of real estate economics. It is a call to individualism. In conclusion, it is always requested that Melora reiterate that she played with Nirvana on their last European tour and perhaps you will ask to hear about the physical attacks Rasputina suffered at the hands of Marilyn Manson's audience, which is too lurid to get into just now.
