Sevendust, one of the best and unique bands of this time, has had an awesome two CD's and incredible live performance. The have one of the best sounds there is, combining the explosive vocals of Lajon Witherspoon, the heavy guitars, stabbing bass, and drums by Morgan Rose. Their first CD, which is great music all the way through, has already turned gold, and their second one, Home, kicks a$$. This band started out with normal daily jobs from landscaping to concrete, and playing nightly under the name Crawlspace, what was needed for them then was a manager. Morgan had come upon his old manager from a previous band, JJ French (formally of Twisted Sister), and eventually got him to get some gigs in New York. Through those gigs they got the attention of TV records, which eventually led up to the recording of their debut CD. They came to Atlanta in July 5, 1996, for 3 weeks with a lot of intensive recording. This all happened while the Olympics were going on, with the pipe bomb, and even a bank being robbed that was near them, which contributed to how hard they were playing then. The album was based on a lot of topics, including racism, drugs, and betrayal, and is one of the hardest albums, I think, that has been made since. After Sevendust found out that their original name, Crawlspace had already been used by a band that charged a lot of money for the selling of that name, Vince Hornsby put together two words and came up with Sevendust. Their debut CD, under the name of Sevendust, was later put out in 1997. The group then toured a lot trying to push the album as much as they could. After a long while and nearly two years of touring, Sevendust put out their first video, "Live & Loud" in 1999, and in May of that year, the debut CD went gold. As soon as this had happened, Sevendust had begun working on their sophomore album. They missed the party for their CD going gold in New York; because of they were already working on recording then, somewhere outside of Boston. This time they had Toby Wright (the producer for Alice In Chains, Fishbone, Primus, and KoRn) for their producer. They also got in two guest vocalists to sing individually on two of their songs, Skin from Skunk Anansie , is on Licking Cream, and Chino from Deftones sings on Bender. These two songs probably couldn't have been better if they didn't have those two vocalists in it. Sevendust is doing good, after going through Woodstock 99', completing a tour with Metalica and Kid Rock, and recently Creed, they are becoming one of the more popular heavy rock bands now with their latest CD kicking a$$. Morgan Rose is expecting a baby with his wife, who is the bassist for Coal Chamber. Also, Lajon and his wife, have already had a daughter now.
